The Bachelor of Science in Design in Graphic Design focuses on strategic communication, acquired through a design process that involves analysis, planning, realization, conceptualization, and research. The degree requires the completion of a total of 120 credit hours. The required courses include ASU Design Experience, Designing Life, Graphic Design History, Principles for Graphic Design, Design Drawing, Visual Communication, Communication/Interaction Design Theory, Typography, Technology for Design, Exhibit Design, Motion Graphics and Interaction Design, and Advanced Media. Students must also complete an internship component.
The Bachelor of Arts in Digital Culture (Graphic Information Technology) provides students with the technical abilities needed to create computational media and the application of objects, sound, video, culture, and other elements. A total of 120 credit hours are required for completion of the program. The required courses include Introduction to Digital Culture, ASU Digital Culture Experience, Computational Thinking for Digital Culture, Media Editing, Digital Illustration in Publishing, Web Content Design, Computer Graphics Modeling and Representation, Computer Animation, and Multimedia Design. Students must also complete capstone components.
The Bachelor of Science in Graphic Information Technology focuses on theory and hands-on laboratory practice. Students are able to complete the entire program online. The program requires the completion of a total of 120 credit hours. The required courses include Graphic Communications, Creative Thinking and Design Visualization, Digital Illustration in Publishing, Introduction to Commercial Print, Digital Video Techniques, Multimedia Design, Planning and Storyboard, and Graphic Industry Business Practices. Students must also complete a senior project.
The Master of Science in Technology in Graphic Information Technology enable students to examine visual content in print, photo, web, video, and animation. Students can complete the program on-campus or online. The program requires the completion of 33 credit hours and a portfolio, 33 credit hours and a thesis, or 33 credit hours including the applied project course.
The Master of Visual Communication Design is a studio-based program where students work on strategic visual communication design assignments that emphasize the development of visual language systems. The program requires 60 credit hours including a capstone course. Students must also complete two internship courses and a culminating experience.
The Master of Design in Visual Communication Design is intended for students seeking advanced instruction in visual language, theory, history, methodology, technology, and design processes. Students must complete 36 credit hours and a thesis or 36 credit hours and the required applied project course.
