Graphic Design Programs at Yeshiva University

Yeshiva University offers several graphic design and related programs for students today, including a Master of Science in Digital Media and Marketing. Designed for students who want to work in marketing and advertising, it’s available from the university’s Katz School of Science and Health. Students learn how to create marketing campaigns for the web and create keywords for sites to maximize the pages for search engines. The program requires strong art and design skills from students because they’ll use those skills in all their classes. Students can choose a track in marketing analytics or digital and social strategies. The 18 credits of core classes in the program include Consumer Research Methods, Marketing Management and Strategy, Brand Management and Consumer Behavior and Customer Relationship Management.

Multiple programs are available for undergrads who want to study graphic design such as the studio art major. It is available from the Stern College of Women and features 40 credits of art classes. Students take The Studio Experience, which teaches them how to use the resources in the studio. In Drawing in New York, students have the opportunity to travel to different locations around New York and create art in the field. Other courses include Art Therapy, Stop-Motion Animation, Introduction to Video, Exhibition Design and Introduction to Computer Design.

The studio art major is only available for female students, but both men and women can declare a major in art. Students take classes such as History of Art, Color and Design, Advanced Design and Art in New York. The university offers a course called Guided Project for students who want to create custom pieces and designs. They’ll work with an advisor over a full semester and get feedback from the dean of the department. The art history program is a good choice for students who want to learn more about the art that others created.

Students can also declare a minor in media studies, which allows them to study the media as a whole, including the advertising campaigns that others launched and how people design work for the web. It includes courses such as Multimedia Writing, Media and Society, Social Media Marketing, Digital Media Marketing, and Creative Advertising.

Yeshiva University is a private university affiliated with Modern Orthodox Judaism. Established in 1886, it is now the oldest American university affiliated with Judaism. Originally founded as an elementary school, it later added a seminary that offered classes for traditional college students. The university is no home to multiple divisions and departments that offer graduate courses and four schools that offer undergraduate programs. The Stern College for Women only admits females and allows them to take classes with other young women. Yeshiva University Accreditation Details

The Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) awarded regional accreditation to Yeshiva University and renewed that accreditation several times in the past. Any student who is in need of financial aid can use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to get assistance due to this accreditation. The university’s legal, psychology, medical and speech and language degree programs all have accreditation too.

Yeshiva University Application Requirements

At the Undergraduate Open House events, prospective students can learn more about the university and the art programs that interest them. The application opens every year and closes near the beginning of February. Yeshiva also has an early application deadline of December second. It begins sending decision letters at the beginning of February for those who applied by the early deadline and at the beginning of April for those who applied later. Students need a B average in high school and a score of 24/1180 on the ACT/SAT. Yeshiva asks for an application, $65 application fee, test score, transcript, and essay. Students need to write 500 to 750 words to answer one of two essay questions. The university encourages students to interview with an admissions counselor too.

Yeshiva looks for students who have a bachelor’s degree in art or business when choosing who to admit to the digital marketing and media program. Once they apply online, they’ll submit a resume that shows any experiences they have in art or marketing, transcripts from their past schools and two letters of recommendation. The university encourages students to submit letters from both those familiar with their academic work and those who worked with them in a professional setting. Prospective graduate students will also need to submit a personal statement that explains their goals and shows their commitment to the degree program.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Undergrads pay fees of $2,700 and a tuition rate of $42,200 for a total of $44,900 each year. Though some of the dorms for male students charge as little as $6,750 per year, the dorms for women charge a minimum of $9,000 each year. Students can choose from two different meal plans that cost $3,000 to $3,500 every year too. If a student does not have health insurance, he or she will pay an extra $4,103 each year for coverage. Yeshiva offers several financial aid opportunities for undergrads and awards them packages after receiving a FAFSA. Students can qualify for scholarships, work-study, grants, and loans.

Though the university offers the digital marketing and media program online and on-campus, students all pay the same rate of $1,090 per credit hour. They pay a $125 technology fee and a $65 registration fee each semester too. On-campus students pay around $2,000 each semester for health insurance. The university will waive this fee for students enrolled in the online program. Graduate students who apply to Yeshiva and submit the FAFSA will automatically enter the scholarship pool. They can also apply for an assistantship if they enroll in the on-campus program. Yeshiva University recommends that students applying to any of the graphic design programs make an appointment to speak with a financial aid counselor when they apply.
