The Hearst Journalism Awards Program offers 14 scholarship competitions each month in the areas of writing, photo journalism, radio, television, and multimedia. Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000 are awarded to the five top applicants in each area.

The National Association of Black Journalists Scholarship

African American students who are looking for top scholarships for journalism majors may want to consider applying for the National Association of Black Journalists Scholarship. This scholarship awards up to $3,000 to qualified students who meet the NABJS requirements. People who would like to apply for this scholarship will need to apply for membership to the NABJ and submit at least five samples of their work. They will also be required to provide three letters of reference and submit an essay on a topic chosen by the NABJ.
