Scholarships for web design students provide students with limited funds extra money that they can use to pay for their tuition and any other related costs. Students may use some of these money to pay for a new computer to use in their web design classes or for software that will make their courses a little easier. These scholarships are available from different sources and usually have different deadlines and requirements in place for those who want to apply.

ESA Foundation Computer and Video Game Scholarship

The Entertainment Software Association Foundation (ESA Foundation) offers a scholarship for those who want to study web design and those who want to work in video and computer game design. This scholarship program is open to minority students and female students, but those who apply must have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. It awards 30 students with a $3,000 scholarship each year that they can use to cover their college costs.

Electronic Document Systems Foundation Scholarships

Students can apply for one or more of the scholarships offered by the Electronic Document Systems Foundation (EDSF). According to the EDSF website, it began offering scholarship programs in 1999 to meet the growing need for qualified workers in the electronic documents field. Though some of its scholarships are joint efforts between the foundation and major corporations, other scholarships are available through the foundation itself and the donations that it receives each year. Some of these scholarships award students $3,000 or more. Each program has its own application that interested students can use.

Judy Corman Memorial Scholarship and Internship from Scholastic

Scholastic is one of the leading publishers of young adult books and books for children today. The Judy Corman Memorial Scholarship is a scholarship program designed for those studying advertising and related fields, including web design and new art or media. Winners receive both a scholarship that they can use to cover their educational costs and an internship with Scholastic. Scholastic allows winners to work in its publishing house in New York while in college to gain more practical experience in the publishing field.

Congressional Black Caucus Visual Arts Scholarship

The Congressional Black Caucus (CBS) offers a visual arts scholarship program that is open to any student majoring in web design or another field of the visual arts. Those applying must also have a grade point average of 2.75 or higher. The application process requires some samples of the student’s work too. Students will need to show that they have some visual arts experience and supply the CBC with examples of their best work. The CBC awards 10 students a maximum of $3,000 every year.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award

One of the more unique scholarships for web design students is the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award, which is one of the only programs open specifically to graduate students. Those hoping to apply must ask a faculty member or professor to submit their names. The foundation will look at the names selected and narrow down its choice to a smaller number of students before picking a winner. Students receive up to $50,000 in scholarship money that they can use for tuition and other expenses. The foundation looks for students who have a higher financial need.

Concluding Thoughts

These scholarship programs make it easier for students to afford the high cost of going to school today. They can use funds to pay their tuition costs, fees and any other expenses. Scholarships for web design students are available from these organizations and from colleges that offer web design programs too.
